This novel is absolutely fantastic! Huebbe's nostalgic and attention to detail writing style helps the reader stay on their toes with it's plot. The character development is also detailed and makes you want to love, or hate in some cases, the characters as if they were real people. The main character, Runaway, keeps the reader wanting more and continue reading to see what her next move will be. It is truly a great read and I'm glad to have taken the time to read it.
Set in the hills of CA, this story captures the life of a bunch of teenagers with totally different personalities, connected by their love of cars. This is a flashback that everyone can put themselves into, and is a book that can be passed along to any reader. I've already passed it along to a friend to try and I'm sure with this book, that trend will continue! This is definitely a book to pick up for a great story with a set of dynamic characters that everyone can relate to. Hope you love it as much as I did!

This book takes you back to the friends of your youth. The type of friendships that can survive hardships and time. The ending will leave you wanting more...amazing!
This is a tender story of the friendship of a group of teens, bound together through their love of cars and the thrill of racing. Reminiscent of the "good ol' days" of juke boxes, teenage crushes, and friendships that last forever, "baby-boomers" will enjoy a trip back to their high-school days and the lost friends they remember warmly.
This book was really fun and easy to read, beginning with childhood friends and how each member of the group begins to grow from their personality. The feeling after finishing the book can best be defined with nostalgia. I loved the whole story, and definitely would recommend it to me friends.

On a side note it was really interesting to see a lot of Glendora references. haha

I always have a way of knowing when a book is fantastic...I can't put it down, I cry, and I laugh. If I do all three it is golden. Huebbe's Runaway did exactly that; it is a great novel for all ages, it gives you a warm comforting feeling and is full of witty remarks by such inspiring characters. It is hard to choose a favorite character as they all create a perfect blend of friendship, each needing what the other has to offer. The story line is brilliant and the writing keeps you engaged, always wondering what will happen next. It is written with many references, making the reader feel smart and as if they are apart of the story. It is truly a touching story, one I will definitely reread time and time again.
