I recently discovered Julianne MacLean’s marvelous books. I actually read/listened to Married by Midnight first, not realizing it was part of this incredible series. Needless to say, once I finished Book 4, I had to go back and read the rest. In my Wildest Fantasies is absolutely a fabulous book!

Ms. MacLean writes emotionally-charged romances that will wring your heart dry. Her characters are unforgettable and her story line is intriguing with plenty of plot twists. The development of the romance had me doing a happy dance!

Lady Rebecca Newland is a wonderful heroine, and I fell in love with her front the first page. She exhibits all the characteristics I most love. The anguish she feels brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. What I loved the most was her compassionate, giving heart. The patience she shows is astonishing. She is the perfect match for Devon.

Devon Sinclair, Lord Hawthorne is my favorite kind of hero. He is brave, fearless and determined to accomplish his father’s wishes, even though marriage is the last thing he wants. Of course as the heir to a dukedom, he always knew he would have to marry, but he did not want an emotional entanglement. He wanted a business arrangement where his future duchess would fulfill the role in a circumspect manner and not expect professions of love. He gets the exact opposite with Rebecca. She manages to tear down the brick wall surrounding his heart.

The sexual tension between Rebecca and Devon oozes off the page and the love scenes are concentrated more on the emotions behind the sex than where part A and part B go. I thoroughly enjoyed them and could live vicariously through the characters, and is that not what we readers want?

The Victorian age is not my first love, but Ms. MacLean was able to paint such a vivid picture of the dress and environment, she quite transported me back in time. Her startling descriptions of the palace gave me a fantastic visual of the magnificent home.

Oh, and I must mention the incredible narrator. Rosalind Landor is absolutely fantastic. She reads with deep emotion and truly brings the characters to life. Her ability to give each character their own distinctive voice is amazing. I know whenever she is the narrator I am in for a treat!

If you enjoy romance in a historical setting with a moving plot and amazing characters, then you will love In My wildest Fantasies as much as I did. I can’t wait to read/listen to the other books in this series. Happy reading!

What a great intro to the series. I love how Rothstone, Rebecca Newland and Devon Sinclair were obsessed in their own ways. The story progressed quickly and misunderstanding and plot twists were addressed quickly.
It was exellant reading. Very good characters, moving storyline,very juicy explanations of expression of love.i really really, really liked the book.
I like the story plot of a young girls childhood hero coming back later in her life to save her again. But thought the struggled the hero had to learn to love and overcome past guilt lacked any true reasoning or depth.
Devon and Rebecca's story is a solid start to the Pembroke Palace series. Readers are introduced to an aristocratic family that seems perfect on the surface. Once the secrets are revealed, the reader is drawn into the histories of the members of an illustrious ducal dynasty.
This book is the first of five novels in the Pembroke Palace Series. The first chapter of the 4th book in the series was presented at the ending of another book that I read. I ended up purchasing book #4 plus the other 3 that went before it. In My Wildest Fantasies was a light read, interesting but not totally memorable to me. I give it 3.5 stars.
Another episode in the lives of Pembrook Palace and the Sinclair brothers and their family. Their father demand the brothers (4 of them) marry before Christmas. Lady Rebeca is in need of a husband and the Devon Duke of Pembrook is looking for a bride. All is not true between the two lovers as they find they have secrets from each other. A good romance and I recommend it.
I never feel good about a less than three star review and therefore, usually just keep my thoughts to myself when encountering a crummy story. I read between one and three books in this genre weekly and I'm sorry to say those that are giving 4-5 stars must be missing out on some great reads if they rated this book as excellent. It was difficult to get into the characters and i never found it hard to put the book down; I'm surprised i finished it. I adore getting swept away and forgetting about life for a time but the characters lacked depth and story line was mediocre. I commend the fact that there are no typos which is getting to be so common. I really like spicy period romance but this just wasn't done well. The leading lady was the sexual aggressor and though i like a strong character she was so much more eager than our handsome duke, maybe thats what turned me off a little. I should have judged this book by its cover - which, at second glance depicts a girl in a cheesy porn star pose rather than a sultry beauty in a gorgeous, sexy period-style gown - that sort of epitomizes the story.. Don't mean to offend the author but to my fellow readers, you can make a better selection for your next read.
